ECOSYSTEMS

Understanding ecosystems and how we impact them

Situated in one  of the world’s top biodiversity hotspots, Iracambi is a great place to do ecosystem research – you might even find a hitherto undescribed species, it has happened! These are our main research areas but we’re flexible if you are particularly interested in something else. Contact us and we’ll let you know if what you want is what you might find here. These are our main research areas:

  • fauna and flora inventories
  • forest monitoring: forest cover, growth, species competition
  • water monitoring and stream ecology
  • soil monitoring

You can check some of our published research here  – including downloadable pages on Iracambi birds, frogs and butterflies stored at Chicago’s Field Museum. Please contact us if you’d like to conduct research in the Atlantic Forest. We’d love to see you!
